Pet Runner (AM & PM)

Description

Support our spay/neuter team by taking pets to/from their owners' vehicles. This is the best way to get some hands-on time with the pets in our clinic!  Morning Pet Runners will also discuss pick-up times and collect documents from clients, as well as helping get pets weighed and examined. Afternoon Pet Runners will deliver the clients' invoice and pet's paperwork, and will be responsible for explaining the paperwork and how to care for the pet after surgery. Previous dog handling training is preferred but not required. 

Pet Runners are also needed for all of our Drive-Thru Clinics (First Fridays and the Saturday ones). Click here to view those opportunities.

Volunteers must:

  • have excellent communication skills
  • be willing/able to take direction from staff
  • be organized and have strong attention to detail
  • be mobile/able to walk/move quickly, bend, lift, reach, etc.
  • be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • be able to handle/control possibly large, strong dogs
  • be able to help lift pets into vehicles
  • be able to assess safety and potential risks in animal-handling situations, and notify staff or ask for proper support in a timely manner

Inclement Weather Plan: Volunteers will be bringing pets outside to their owners' vehicles in the parking lot. Some work in inclement weather (rain, heat, snow, etc.) will be required. In case of severe weather, volunteers are asked to use their best judgement and rely on their comfort level to determine participation that day. In the event of severe weather where closure of business is recommended, we will notify all volunteers.
