Becoming a Volunteer

We are always looking for individuals to join our volunteer team. It's easy to get started! Here's a look at the process:

Volunteer on a regular basis:

  • Create your volunteer profile on this site
  • Must successfully pass background check
  • You'll be contacted about setting up a 1:1 interview with the Community Engagement Director, so we can learn more about you and you can learn more about our volunteer opportunities!
  • You'll need to attend an upcoming online volunteer orientation, where you'll learn about the history and mission of our organization, and our available opportunities
  • After attending orientation, you are ready to start volunteering in your chosen role!

Next-day volunteering (volunteer once or just a few times):

  • Opportunities available Tuesdays-Fridays
  • Email volunteer@prckc.org or call 816-353-0940 x38
  • Tell us your first and last name, birthdate (month, date, and year), and the day/time you want to volunteer
  • Jobs may include parking lot guide, cat runner, resource maintenance, or other special projects
  • Must successfully pass pre-screening

 

Groups

Group opportunities are extremely limited at this time. Saturday opportunities for groups of no more than 9 people will be sporadically available, depending on our needs. Groups are more than welcome to hold a donation drive or independent fundraiser to help keep us afloat through the pandemic. Scouts

Virtual scout opportunities may be available. Saturday opportunities for troops bringing no more than 9 people total will be sporadically available, depending on our needs. Please email volunteer@prckc.org for more information.

 

Community Service

We offer opportunities for those in need of court-ordered community service hours. Some restrictions do apply. Email volunteer@prckc.org for details.

The basic guidelines:

  • We only accept minor offenses
  • We do not accept theft, violence, or sexual assault-related charges under any circumstances
  • Animal handling roles and surgery clinic roles are prohibited
  • Must successfully pass background check
